This project evaluated the Fit2Fly digital platform to modernise airline passenger medical clearance, replacing manual, variable processes with a structured, rules-based clinical decision system aligned with International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines. Using de-identified real-world cases, the evaluation demonstrated that approximately 50% of cases could be safely automated, with potential to increase to 70–75% through expanded clinical logic and structured data capture. The project highlights significant reductions in administrative burden, improved consistency in clinical decision-making, faster turnaround times, and enhanced coordination between healthcare providers and airlines, supporting safer and more efficient cross-border patient travel.
